Evan wins Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Early Career Investigator Award
Evangelos Oikonomou, MD, DPhil, was selected as the winner of the Robert Levy Memorial Lecture and Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Early Career Investigator Award Competition. The Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Early Career Investigator Award recognizes and awards early career investigators and trainee council members for their achievements and their continuing research. The winners are selected at the American Heart Association (AHA) Study Sessions.
In a recent project led by Oikonomou and Rohan Khera, MD, MS, the CarDS Lab developed a novel approach to construct computational clinical trial phenomaps to characterize patient-level heterogeneity in the effectiveness of medical therapies and interventions. The approach has already led to the development of a new digital decision-aid tool, called ASSIST, that is intended to standardize the choice of the most appropriate test for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Building upon this work, the team has now expanded the application of this method to highlight trials exploring the benefits of intensive versus standard blood pressure reduction.
