Dr. Dhruva Biswas is a new research fellow at the CarDS Lab! He joins us from the UK as an MD-PhD graduate from Cambridge and UCL, and fresh from his cardiology internship at King's College London.
His passion for computational research emerged spending his summers running simulations in Cambridge in the same room that Hodgkin and Huxley had performed their seminal experiments on giant squid axons.
More recently, he gained a love for cardiology during night shifts covering the CCU at Kings College Hospital, admitting critically unwell patients and in many cases witnessing rapid improvements in their health with the provision of modern cardiovascular care.
His research integrates machine learning and molecular insights to identify high-risk patients who may otherwise be missed, evaluating the clinical contexts in which AI model performance may be improved, and depicting the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. When not in the lab, you'll find him running up and down East Rock or proving his status as the best photographer on the team!
